Spencer Hannibal-Smith is a trombonist and music educator with extensive experience in operations and management within the music field. Originally from Southern California, Spencer holds a Master of Musical Arts in Wind Band Conducting from the University of Nevada, Reno, a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Fresno State University, and a Google Certification in Project Management.
Spencer's career in education began in Clovis, CA, where he served as the Assistant Director of Bands at the Reagan Educational Center. His adaptability was evident as he worked with a team of educators to run an instrumental music program of over 400 students. After three successful years in Clovis, Spencer relocated to Reno, NV, where he pursued his graduate studies and worked for the Reno-based music publication company GPG Music. Here, he further honed his conducting, teaching, and musicality while gaining valuable experience in the field of business and music publication.
After graduation, Spencer assumed the role of Director of Business Operations for GPG Music, where he managed daily operations, coordinated publication releases, oversaw marketing efforts, represented the company at conferences, and managed print production. During his tenure at GPG Music, Spencer continued his work with the Wolf Pack Marching Band at UNR, fulfilling administrative duties, teaching responsibilities, and logistics management for the program.
Currently, Spencer serves as the Operations Manager for the University of Nevada, Reno Bands, where he oversees logistics and operations for the Nevada Wind Ensemble, Nevada Concert Winds, Wolf Pack Marching Band, and Howlers Pep Band. In addition to operations, Spencer teaches the Nevada Concert Winds and assists with teaching the Wolf Pack Marching Band and Howlers Pep Band.
